Attorney Profiles

Craig Forhan is a founding partner of Hopkins & Forhan. He practices in the firm's Bloomfield Hills Office and works in all of the firm's practice areas, with an emphasis on medical malpractice, personal injury, wrongful death and auto accident liability.

Prior to forming the firm in January of 1996, Mr. Forhan was a partner with the law firm of Googasian, Hopkins, Hohauser & Forhan, where he represented plaintiffs in substantial personal injury and wrongful death cases. He has been lead counsel in a number of jury trials and has secured millions of dollars of relief on behalf of the firm's clients.

Mr. Forhan received his law degree from the University of Michigan School of Law in 1978. He received his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Michigan in 1975.

Mr. Forhan is a member of the State Bar of Michigan (admitted in 1978) and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan (admitted in 1979).

Mr. Forhan is also active in bar activities. He has served the Oakland County Bar Association on its Mediation, Legislative and Medical-Legal committees including terms as chairperson of the Mediation and Medical-Legal committees. He has served the State Bar of Michigan on its Medical-Legal and Professional Liability committees. Mr. Forhan is also a member of the Michigan Trial Lawyers Association and the American Trial Lawyers Association.

Mr. Forhan has served as a member of the Board of Directors, and as Secretary/ Treasurer, of MLM (Michigan Lawyers Mutual) insurance company, a Bar related professional liability carrier.

Mr. Forhan is also active in many community activities. He is on the Board of Directors of the Metro Detroit YMCA Camping Services Board where he previously served as chairperson. He is active in the Farmington Players Community Theater having served as treasuree and as a member of that organization's board of Directors. Mr. Forhan is an active member and past president of the M Club, an organization of former University of Michigan varsity letter winners. He serves as an elder in his church and is active in coaching his children's hockey and baseball teams.

Craig and his wife Jan are the parents of three children.
