Steve Hopkins is a founding partner of Hopkins & Forhan. He practices in the firm's Bloomfield Hills Office and specializes in representing individuals and small businesses against insurance companies, hospitals and other corporate defendants. For the past 35 years as a practicing attorney, he has represented clients in automobile accident, medical malpractice, wrongful death, and other personal injury cases as well as representing clients in small business and insurance company disputes. Steve Hopkins has successfully recovered millions of dollars for his clients who represent a broad cross section of Michigan residents.

Prior to forming the firm in January of 1996 with his partner of 32 years, Craig Forhan, Mr. Hopkins was a senior partner with the law firm of Googasian, Hopkins, Hohauser & Forhan. Throughout his career, he has represented plaintiffs in substantial personal injury, wrongful death and business dispute cases. He has been lead counsel in many jury trials and has secured millions of dollars of relief for his clients. He has also represented clients before the Michigan Supreme Court and Michigan Court of Appeals.

Mr. Hopkins received his law degree from the University of Michigan School of Law in 1975, where he graduated with honors. He received his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Michigan Business School in 1972, where he ranked second in his class.

Mr. Hopkins is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan and the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court Of Appeals.

Mr. Hopkins is also active in bar activities. He has served the Oakland County Bar Association on its Case Evaluation and Circuit Court committees and Chairman of the Oakland County Bar Association Case Evaluation Committee. He has agreed on several occasions to serve as a case mediator in the Oakland County Circuit Court early case intervention program.

Steve and his wife Cindi met in Ann Arbor as freshmen at the University of Michigan and are parents of two sons, both graduates of the University of Michigan, one of whom is in the process of obtaining his law degree. Cindi is a former math teacher, high school assistant principal and assistant superintendent and director of technology for the Bloomfield Hills School District. Steve is a golfer, sporting a seven handicap, and Steve and Cindi are avid scuba divers, having traveled to diving destinations throughout the Caribbean. When his sons were younger, Steve was constantly busy as a baseball, soccer, and basketball coach, and hockey, football, lacrosse, swimming and tennis parent. Even though he has successfully represented many victims of dog bites, Steve is at heart an animal lover and currently has his household taken over by a former "pound puppy" named Shadow.
